The cell of Ascention is located between Karakallou and Philotheou monasteries. The cell was founded in XVII century and became Russian in 1855.

normal_IMG_0313.jpgThe katholikon of the skete possesses two remarkable icons of the Saviour and Virgin Mary painted in Palestinian style. The Saviour is depicted with raised blessed hand, the icon creates and image of pensive Christ. Virgin Mary with baby Jesus is depicted running with her veil fluttering.
 

The cell consists of two-three storey buildings. There is an additional building with a workshop and a smithy. The cell is located in a beautiful area covered with trees and flowers that bloom in the summertime.
